About This Policy

BestFlag is a parking companion application that helps drivers find nearby parking zones, run timed parking sessions, and keep a local history of their parking activity. This Privacy Policy describes how the App and its companion website at parkingslots0001.org handle information, and it applies to both. BestFlag (“we,” “us,” or “our”) is the developer and operator of the App.

The App is designed to work without any account, registration, or login. No user profile is created on our servers, and the App does not upload parking data to us.

Data We Handle

Automatically Collected Information

When the App is launched for the first time, it generates a random anonymous identifier and stores it on the device. This identifier is a unique string that contains no personal details — it does not include your name, email address, phone number, or any other information that could identify you directly. Its sole purpose is to distinguish one installation from another for basic analytics. The App also detects the device’s language and region setting so that content can be displayed in the appropriate language.

The App does not collect an advertising identifier, and it does not perform marketing attribution. No third-party analytics or advertising services are integrated.

Location Information

To show parking zones near you and provide navigation directions, the App requests access to your device’s precise location. Location data is used only while the App is in active use — the App does not track your location in the background, and your coordinates are never transmitted to our servers. Map tiles, parking zone metadata, and routing responses are fetched from third-party mapping services (described below) based on the map viewport, not based on a persistent location record tied to you.

If you decline the location permission or revoke it later, the App continues to function; you can still browse the map manually, but automatic centering on your current position and “nearby” filtering become unavailable.

Locally Stored Data

All parking-related data that you create in the App — vehicles and license plates, parking session history (location, duration, estimated cost), cached parking zone data for offline access, and your in-app preferences — is stored locally on your device. None of this information is transmitted to our servers or synchronized to the cloud. It remains on the device until you delete it through the App’s settings screen, clear the App’s data in your system settings, or uninstall the App.

Local Notifications

The App uses local notifications to remind you before a parking session expires and to alert you when time is running out. These notifications are generated and scheduled entirely on your device. They are not sent through any push-notification service, no notification token is created, and no messages are dispatched from our servers. On Android 13 and later, notification permission is requested at runtime; you can deny or revoke it at any time in your device settings without affecting the rest of the App.

Built-in Browser

The App includes a built-in browser that is used to display this Privacy Policy and the Support page directly inside the App. The built-in browser supports cookies (including third-party cookies) and local storage, which are standard features of any web browser. It does not collect any additional data beyond what is described elsewhere in this policy. Any website you open through the built-in browser operates under its own privacy practices.

Support Requests

The Support page provides a contact form that lets you send us a message or report a bug. When you choose to submit a support request, you may provide your name, email address, and a description of your question or the issue you encountered. You may also attach an optional file — for example, a screenshot, image, or document — by taking a photo or video with your device’s camera or by selecting an existing file through your device’s file picker. The App itself does not access your camera directly; photo and video capture is handled by your device’s built-in camera app, and the file picker is handled by the system. Support information is submitted only when you explicitly tap send, and we use it solely to respond to your inquiry and resolve the reported issue.

Purpose and Retention

The anonymous identifier and device language are used to operate the App and present localized content. Location data is used to render nearby parking zones and provide routing. Locally stored parking data exists so that you can review your own session history and work offline. Support form submissions are used only to reply to you. The anonymous identifier persists on your device until you clear the App’s data or uninstall the App. Locally stored parking data is retained until you delete it. Support messages are retained only for as long as is necessary to resolve your inquiry.

Third Parties and External Services

The App does not share information with any advertising network, attribution provider, or analytics platform. It does, however, connect to open mapping services to render the map, look up addresses, and compute routes. Map tiles and parking zone data are loaded from OpenStreetMap, address search is performed via Nominatim, and turn-by-turn routing is provided by OSRM. These services receive standard network requests containing the visible map area, a search term, or route coordinates; they do not receive the anonymous identifier or any other personal information about you, and they are not provided with a persistent profile. Each of these services operates under its own privacy policy.

We do not sell, rent, or trade any information, and we do not share data with third parties for marketing purposes.

Your Control

You are in control of the data the App handles. You can revoke the location permission at any time from your device’s Settings > Apps > BestFlag > Permissions. Parking reminders can be turned off from the App’s settings screen, or you can disable notifications for the App system-wide. To remove all locally stored information — including the anonymous identifier, parking history, vehicles, cached zones, and any cookies or local storage held by the built-in browser — go to Settings > Apps > BestFlag > Storage > Clear Data, or uninstall the App. Both actions are permanent and cannot be undone.

Data Security

All network communication between the App and external services is transmitted over encrypted HTTPS connections. Locally stored parking data never leaves your device unless you voluntarily attach it to a support request. While no method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure, we take reasonable steps to protect the limited information the App handles.

Children’s Privacy

The App is not directed at children under 13 years of age, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe that a child has provided us with personal information through a support request, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it.

Changes to This Policy

If we update this Privacy Policy, we will revise the “Last Updated” date shown at the top of this page. We encourage you to review the policy periodically. Your continued use of the App after any changes take effect indicates your acceptance of the updated policy.
